What is a class 7 MOT?

If you drive a a van or a caravan over three years old, you must keep it in a safe and roadworthy condition. The MOT test checks that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards. The type of vehicle you drive will determine what class MOT it needs.

What is a Class 7 vehicle?
Class 7 MOT requirements are Goods Vehicles, such as vans, trucks and lorries, over 3000kg up to and including 3500kg DGW. If your van weighs less than the Class 7 MOT weight limit of 3000-3500kg, you will require a Class 4 MOT. Book your Class 4 MOT online today. Read our blog to find out more about the difference between a Class 4 and Class 7 MOT.

MOT tests can only be carried out by trained and experienced specialists at centres authorised by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). CarFix Garage's technicians are also trained to carry out MOT tests on hybrid and electric vehicles.

What class MOT is my van or my caravan?

MOTs for vans can be either Class 4 or Class 7, depending on the weight of the vehicle.
Any goods vehicles, including vans, over 3000kg and up to, and including 3500kg, require a Class 7 MOT. If your van weighs less than 3000kg, you need a Class 4 MOT.

What class MOT is my motorhome?

Motorhomes that weigh up to 3500kg fall into the category of a Class 4 MOT. An MOT for a motorhome over 3500kg should also be Class 4. However, some Class 4 MOT centres may not have the capacity or equipment to test it, so it can be a good idea to take it to a Class 7 MOT centre.

How much does a Class 7 MOT cost on my Van or Caravan?

The maximum Class 7 MOT cost, as set out by the government, is £58.60.
