Servicing your headlights

Fully functioning headlights are essential when driving whilst it is dark or during any other form of reduced visibility, such as fog.

The headlights’ casing and lens may crack or become heavily scratched over time and may also require maintenance.

CarFix Garage can repair/replace your headlights if they become damaged. To do so, simply book a service online by clicking below. https://www.carfixgarage.co.uk/product/services

Ensuring proper maintenance of your headlights

The direction of your headlights must also be checked regularly, as incorrect aim of your headlights can be dangerous to yourself and oncoming traffic.
A malfunctioning headlight must be repaired immediately and bulbs must be replaced should they fail.

If you would like to make an enquiry about headlights, please don't hesitate to get in touch by making an enquiry here.

What the electrician willl do when replace headlamp

When replacing a headlamp, an electrician will likely perform the following steps:
Turn off the ignition: Turn off the ignition and ensure the handbrake is on.
Wait for the engine to cool: Wait for about 10 minutes to allow the engine to cool down.
Open the bonnet: Open the bonnet and locate the headlight assembly.
Remove the trim: Use your fingers to gently lift the plastic trim around the headlight.
Undo the screws: Use a Phillips screwdriver to undo one screw, a Torx screwdriver to undo the second screw, and then a screw at the back.
Pull the light off: Carefully pull the light up and off the mounting point clip.
Disconnect the electrical connector: Squeeze the clips and pull out the electrical connector at the back of the light.
Remove the bulb: Pull off the bulb cover and turn the bulb anti-clockwise to remove it.
Insert the new bulb: Screw the new bulb in clockwise to secure it.
Reconnect the electrical connector: Put the electrical connector back on.
Test the headlights: Turn on the headlights and test them.
The time it takes to replace a headlight depends on the vehicle model and the complexity of the task. A simple bulb replacement can take 15–30 minutes, while replacing the entire headlight assembly can take up to three hours.
Driving with a broken headlight is dangerous because the cover can no longer protect the lights or ensure they are waterproof.
